Material requested through LINKin will appear in My Account as an Active request.

Borrow from libraries who participate in Find More Illinois (FMI).

Material requested through FMI will not appear in My Account until we receive it.

To track your request, you can log in to FMI (top right corner) and click Your Account then click Items from other libraries.

  • Search the WorldCat database
  • Click on the title you wish to borrow
  • Click on the ILL icon at the top of the page
  • Enter your name and library card number then click Submit

Material requested through WorldCat appears in My Account as an Inactive request.

You will need to log in with your library card number to access WorldCat from home.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no charge for requests made through LINKin and Find More Illinois. 

Most libraries in WorldCat do not charge a fee.  However, if a fee is required, we will contact you before requesting the material.

You must have a Wheaton Public Library card to place a request.

Search one of the catalogs listed above to place a request yourself.  You will be asked to provide your library card number.

We are happy to do the searching for you. Fill out the ILL Request form and we will locate the item and place a request for you.

Items requested through LINKin or Find More Illinois often arrive in 3-4 days but usually arrive within 5-10 days. 

Arrival time could be longer if the request has to pass through multiple libraries before one of them can supply the item.

The item will be delivered to Wheaton Public Library.

We will send you a Hold Pickup Notice when we receive the item.  It will be waiting for you on the Hold Shelf, please check it out before you leave.

Yes, items borrowed through interlibrary loan are automatically renewed once.

Please return your interlibrary loans to Wheaton Public Library.

We will check them in to remove them from your account and return them to the lending library.

Please be aware of the due dates as the loan periods are different from WPL's material.

Interlibrary loan items may be denied because:

  • The item is too new to loan (less than 1 year.)
  • The item is checked out at the owning library.
  • The item may be lost, missing or damaged.
  • The library that owns the item may not participate in interlibrary loan.

Items requested from libraries in Illinois are delivered by RAILS, as part of the Illinois Library Delivery System.

A small number of requests come from libraries outside of Illinois and arrive through the mail or UPS.

We receive and return interlibrary loan items every morning, Monday through Friday.
